How to start in Ethical Hacking

If you want to take the passionate path of becoming an ethical hacker here are some steps that will help you start.

Develop soft skills

Be curious

Learn how to see beyond the evident, ask yourself how an app works, what is behind a website, how do users normally behave when they are online, etc. this way you will start building critical thinking that will be crucial when you face bigger challenges.

Learn by yourself

The most successful hackers are self-taught, therefore, don't stop seeking for knowledge, learning new things and pursuing for new terms and technologies.

Stay updated

Open a twitter account and start following relevant people in infosec, this is a good way to be aware of the news in cybersec, reddit is also a good option or if you want something more community based, there are a lot of discord and twitch channels that hold tons of information regarding ethical hacking.

Be brave

Stay open to feedback, start projects without the fear of failing, every step you take, moves you forward, everything is learning, even the "mistakes" and everybody in this community has dealed with frustration many times so you are not alone, in fact, it is good to feel that way because it gives you the impulse you need to start looking for answers beyond your comfort zone.

Build strong technical skills

Coding - Learn to code and to script, usually we hear that hackers don't need to be programmers, that is a lie, you can not break what you cannot make.

C # Programming

Bash Scripting - Spanish

Bash Scripting - English

Operating Systems - You will need to understand how OS works, memory positions, processes, etc. You need to know the anatomy of your targets.

Networking - How will you get to your target? What are the components in the communication between you and your victims? Networking knowledge is key.
